About Journey to the Holy Land
The primary intent of this website is to share a very special experience, a trip to the Holy Land.
The goal is three-fold:
1. To encourage individuals to embark upon a trip to the Holy Land themselves.
2. To give individuals who may not have the opportunity to go the opportunity to experience something of the land of the Bible.
3. To allow individuals who have been to the Holy Land to revisit the power and impact of the experience.

The Origin of This Website
Hi.
My name is Bobby Morris. I am the author of this website. I spent
four years at Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary. During that time, I
earned the Master of Arts and Master of Sacred Theology degrees. My
primary area of interest is Old Testament.
While at Southern, I took advantage of the opportunity to travel to the Holy Land. I traveled for three weeks in January of 1999 and again for three weeks in January of 2001. The vast majority of the pictures in this website come from my photography during these two trips.
Traveling to the Holy Land is such a powerful experience, both in terms of one's faith and academic study. I hope this website will give you some idea of what it is like to walk in the land of the Bible, the very concrete roots of our faith. The Bible did not fall from heaven, it grew out of this particular land.
I invite you to join me for the journey of a lifetime!
Yours in Christ,
Bobby Morris
The Origin of These Trips
The
trips from which this website grew were made possible by the man on the
right. This is Dr. Monte Luker, Professor of Hebrew Scriptures at Lutheran
Theological Southern Seminary.
For many years now, Dr. Luker has taken groups to Israel. This usually includes a two-week trip in May and a three-week trip in January. These trips are not limited to Seminary students. Dr. Luker frequently has retired pastors and even lay people who want to go to Israel along on his trips.
If you would like more information on going to Israel, you can e-mail Dr. Luker at LLuker@LTSS.edu
The idea for the background of this website is owed to Dr. Luker. Anyone who goes to Israel will quickly note that there are a lot of stones in the land! Part of the reason for going to Israel is to see these stones. However, we also go to Israel because of living stones, living stones who walked the land in the time of the Bible and living stones that are there right now. As Christians whose roots are in this land, we too are living stones who have a story to tell and a message to share. Try to keep this in mind as you browse these pages, as we embark upon a Journey to the Holy Land!
